We Love To Sing!
The Luren Singing Society is a 501(c)(3) charitable association. Our mission to spread joy and to perpetuate our Scandinavian heritage through singing, at the same time including songs from countries and cultures all around the earth, is supported by many publics.
Our work is of the nature of a ministry. Usually we just sing for our supper. Unless our appearance is sponsored, we usually collect a free-will offering during intermission that goes 100% to local charities such as food banks, free clinics, or missionary projects. Luren members support our work through annual dues, and we pay most of our own transportation and housing.
Since 1945, our mission also has been supported by the folks who buy meals at our food stand at the annual Winneshiek County Fair. We also receive donations for Luren Singers CDs; and, we accept tax-deductible donations from benefactors who appreciate what we do, and who want to support and perpetuate our long tradition of spreading joy through singing.
